Words of Emotion

My balls are pretty big. There’s a confidence that my sisters and I were raised with. After my dad died, my mom moved us from Queens back to the Dominican Republic. A very macho sort of place. But my mom raised us to know that we are equal to anyone. Whenever we went out, if we were meeting other people, my mom would always say, “I hope you like them.” Not “I hope they like you.” We were the most important.

A Tale of Two Mothers In American in a “Post Racial Society”
Left: Catalina Clouser - Got high, drove for 12 miles with her 2 month old baby on the roof of her car before realizing her child was not in the vehicle. The baby fell off and was found in the middle of the highway, still in its car seat and miraculously unharmed. Catalina pled guilty to child abuse and DUI, she avoided jail time and was sentenced to probation.
Right: Shanesha Taylor - A homeless mother, left her two kids (2 years old and 6 months) in the car while she went on a job interview for 45 minutes because she had no one to watch them. Shanesha was arrested and charged with a felony and had her kids removed from her care.
Both of these women live in Arizona

I live in Phoenix, well, Scottsdale. I’ve followed Shanesha’s story because it just saddens me, you can literally see the pain in her eyes. Yes it does get extremely hot in the cars here, I’m taken back some days just getting into the car and not being able to breathe it’s so hot. I would NEVER, ever leave my child in the car. Not even with the air conditioner, I’ll always take them out with me. I am defending her because what she did was wrong, yes, but she was doing something positive in the process. She wasn’t getting high off drugs and leaving her children on top of the car and driving full speed on a freeway. It’s so rare that I ever defend anyone in cases like this because it’s serious and it’s not a joke but it’s also rare that you see someone’s intentions being for the better.
Also - there is a donation site to help Shanesha, it’s raised over $100,000 from people all over the world to help her. I believe she was also bailed out by a complete stranger (I’m not 100% sure on that though.) That’s so wonderful. So there is faith in humanity restored a little bit in this.

Came across this sweatshirt on FOC and absolutely had to share it!
I hate hearing “You’re so pretty for a big girl.” Is that even a compliment? So, what you’re saying is that my beauty is conditional?Anyway, I love that this sweatshirt is calling people out on that “compliment.” Any chance the sweatshirts have a big FU on the back? LOL
Also, how good do the models look? #flawless They’re so pretty. period.
